Our Platinum Level Donation allows you to sponsor a fin-mounted satellite tag on a Tiger or Great Hammerhead shark!

Satellite tags play a crucial role in our shark research and help our Principal Investigators assess regional movement and identify important pupping/nursery grounds for highly mobile shark species.

IMPORTANT: these tags are only put out on research-specific and size-specific sharks that we catch in the Florida Keys. If you would like to discuss the the adoption package please contact media@biminisharklab.com.

We will send you a certificate of your sponsored shark's information including:

Link for REAL TIME updates on satellite transmissions for the duration of the tag's battery life (4-12 months)
Capture information
Project information package
PHOTOGRAPHS of your shark (when possible!)

What is a satellite tag? We are using Wildlife Computers fin-mounted satellite tags on mature/pregnant female Tiger sharks, and on mature Great Hammerhead sharks. These tags are mounted onto the dorsal fin of the shark, and connect to satellites when the tag antenna breaks the water's surface. This transmits the location of the shark, and we are able to track it's movements via a specialized Google Earth Map.

Your adopted shark will be a UNIQUE and INDIVIDUAL shark: No one else in the world will have the same tagged shark as you!
In an effort to remain environmentally friendly all certificates will be sent as an image file to your email address.
